Why NVC?
Using compassionate communication, we can gain a better understanding of ourselves and others
As humans, we need to be able to feel and express our emotions, whether considered “right” or “wrong”, and accept and understand our emotions, without interpretation or judgement
Our emotions can uncover our needs
We also need to find healthy ways to express our wants and needs; we are more likely to get our needs met because we did express our feelings and needs in an authentic and open way
- Experience more harmony and understanding with people in your life
- Have less painful, shorter conflicts
- Have more awareness of your needs, wants and desires
- Have your needs expressed and understood
- Increase alignment between your values and actions
- Translate judgments into dialogues & requests
- Increase harmony and understanding among others
- Stay more centered, open and effective in conflicts

The Four Principles of NVC
- Observation: Learning to observe without judgment or evaluation, allowing us to clearly identify what is happening without interpreting it through our own filters.
- Feelings Awareness: Developing an awareness of our emotions and those of others, recognizing them as important indicators of our needs and values.
- Needs Identification: Discovering the universal human needs that drive our behaviors and emotions, fostering empathy for ourselves and others.
- Request: Learning to make clear, positive requests that are actionable and specific, providing a constructive path forward.
