Being Human Together
Communication That Works in Real Moments at Lakes of Fire
At Safety Weekend, L2O2 is offering a hands-on introduction to using Nonviolent Communication in real-life moments of stress, misunderstanding, conflict, and care.
This workshop explores how we can pause, notice what is happening, and choose a next step that supports more safety, clarity, and connection.
We’ll practice using the core NVC elements:
- Observation — What happened?
- Feeling — What am I or the other person feeling?
- Need — What matters here?
- Request — What could help now?
We’ll also explore how to turn inward to understand ourselves and turn outward to better understand another person.
Workshop Materials
If we run out of printed copies, you can view the materials here:
- Being Human Together workshop description
- Walking Through OFNR in a Tough Moment (roleplay)
- Feeling/needs wheels
- Needs wheel
- Feelings/needs list
- false feelings to true feelings/needs list
- slides from the workshop
- L2O2 title slide
- All docs together
- OFNR cards
These materials are offered as learning supports, not as scripts you have to get “right.” Real communication is alive, messy, and human. Use what helps, leave what does not, and return to curiosity when you feel stuck.
